Re-purposing a plain t-shirt...

First I will show you some of the new things I have crocheted.  The first is a flower that is detachable to the headband and the other is a bow that is also detachable.  You can change them out to suit your needs.

I thought they were so cute!

Here are the shirts I embellished.  I bought these from Old Navy for $3.50!  I cut up some old shirts that I didn't like or didn't fit me anymore and made flowers with them and sewed them to the shirt.  They were so easy to make and now I have three brand new shirts.

You can use any kind of material you want.  Gauzy material is the best and t-shirt material works well too.  I just loved how they turned out!!

Something New...

I decided to unplug the sewing machine for a day and do some crocheting.  So, I made this...

Baby headbands with a bow.  It only took me 10 minutes to make it and the possibilities are endless!  You can choose different colors and I am even working on making one with a flower instead of a bow.  Now I have to go buy more yarn.  ;o)

Here is another dress I made yesterday.  This is my first time doing the gathering technique to make the skirt fuller.  I have done pleats in the past.  They both look good but the gathering gives you a fuller skirt.

Here is another new one I have made that has the pleats in the skirt.  See...still pretty but not as full.

I ordered more fabric from my favorite fabric store on Friday and hopefully they will come in soon because I am ready to try making pants again.  Trevor looked so cute in his handmade pants yesterday at Church Services!  He wouldn't let me take a picture though.  Maybe I will get a picture next time.  I need to also order or buy some felt for another great project I have in my head.

Stay Tuned!

I want this!!!

I have been wanting one of these since I found out what they are and what they do...

A Serger!!!

If you don't know what one is or what it does then click here.

That is all I have for today.  Hopefully I will be able to get my serger soon so I can make things with better quality.

Maybe for Christmas?!?!

Another Dress...

Last night after I put the kiddos to bed I decided to make another dress.  My husband bowls on a league on Thursday nights so I have about 3 hours to myself to do what I want to do.  I used to read a book before I got my sewing machine.  :o)

I never remember to take pictures during my projects.  Hopefully I will get better at that in the future.  I may need to put a hook in my sewing corner to hang my camera on so I will remember.

Here is the dress...

This one is a little bit different than the others.  I used a different fabric for the top and pleated the skirt part.  I love how it turned out and I hope it fits the tiny baby I made it for!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Boy's Pants & New Pics of Stuff I've Made...

Welp... I tried to make the boy's pants that I have been wanting to try.  I have had the material and elastic for about a week.  I will tell you....I could have thrown the pants in the garbage today!!!!  I can make dresses all day with no pattern.  Give me a pattern and detailed instructions and I can not complete the task.  I just. don't. get it...

I started out by printing off the pattern...

Then I cut out the pattern...

Then I asked my handy helper a couple of questions....

Then I sewed them.  It was easy until I got to the waist band.  The fabric didn't allow me enough room to put in the elastic and fold it over.  It made them too short in the crotch...

So I took that out (It took me forever!!!) and added some more fabric to the top, which wasn't easy either.  Like I said above...I was so ready to just throw them away.  I decided to stay patient and finish them...

You can see how they don't look perfect after I had to do that but his shirt will cover it.  I have no Idea if I will try pants again.  I will have to make my own pattern for him because he is a little more stocky.  The pant legs seem a little tight and they are still a little shorter in the crotch than I would like.  Anyway... I put all of my sewing stuff up after doing these pants today.  I was going to make a couple of dresses but I just had had enough already!!!  I guess I was afraid that my dresses would turn out bad because the pants did.

Here are some pictures of some of the other things that I have made.  They turned out really well, unlike Trevor's pants.  Ha!

This is the second dress I made and it turned out so much better than the first.  It is my favorite so far!

This is my third dress.  It is a little halter dress.  It was so much fun to make.  Both dresses were made for a newborn but can be made for any size.

This is one of my first skirts that I made for my 31 skirt purse.  I know..It needs to be ironed but I haven't gotten to it yet.  :o)  These are easy to do as well.

This is my first tote bag.  It turned out well and I use it as a diaper bag.  I lined it with a different fabric and it is also reversible.

I also put a pocket inside to hold pens and lipgloss.

I have made some other things that I don't have pictures of right now.  I just love to sew!

I guess that is all for today.  Happy sewing and hope your project isn't a flop like mine was!

The cutest & easiest craft...

My sister just sent me this link HERE and thought I would love it!  Well....I LOVE this idea so much I may make one today!!!  It is a t-shirt that you can embellish and make pretty with a man's necktie.  I think it is a great idea because #1.  My husband has tons of ties and doesn't wear them EVER, and #2. because it is a good way to embellish a shirt but also a good way to build up the top of your shirt if it is a little low in the front.  This is super easy to do if you have a sewing machine!

Give it a try!  Let me know if you make one!!

I also make...

In addition to the dresses, I also make blankets, (I want to try my hand at quilting soon and make some modern quilts) 31 skirt purse covers, tote bags with or without pockets in them, and I am getting ready to try my hand at making boys pants/shorts, and flowers for dress embellishments and for hairbows and headbands.  There are more pictures on the way!  I re-took the pictures of the dresses I have made on my SLR camera.  I didn't realize the ones I posted in my last post were so blurry and hard to see.  I took them from my phone.  Well, I am going to go and make a purse skirt cover for Ryan's nurse's purse.

Hello & Welcome!

I have recently bought my first sewing machine and realized that I love to sew things and do crafts!  Now all I need is a big craft room.  Ha!  I have really enjoyed making dresses recently.  I know, I know!!  I have no girls, but I love making them for my friends kids.  I hope you enjoy looking at my creations and if you have any questions or requests for me to make anything...please let me know!  :o)  Here are some of my recent creations...

Hope you have a great day!
